The collection includes further adventures of some familiar characters – Samantha the writer of extraordinary Christmas letters; Mike and Simon, the Singaporean traders in the impossible. We also meet some new seekers after reality in a world of contradictions, like Michaelis (or is it Dennis), the rockstar Genie ? All of us are trying to avoid falling into the Abyss of Possibility as we navigate a universe of decisions whose outcomes are impossible to discern, but which propel our lives forward as normality seems to fall apart around us. Our ordered world of sanity and co-operation has dissolved into conflict, atrocity and misery as human psychology does its worst and bad men grasp the reins of power. What better time to let go of all this and explore imaginary worlds where anything can happen subject to the very real constraints of the human mind. So let us search for the Yeti and let us ponder the risks of infringing the universal copyright laws. Let us consider death – and love – at a strategic conference. Let us challenge the special madness of conspiracy theorists and the wiles of the lizard people; and explore the wonders and limitations of AI and the impact of time travel on the ancient Greeks. There is nothing new under the sun, but as FD Roosevelt said “Men are not prisoners of fate, but only prisoners of their own minds”. So get out of your mind and read my book !
